BERLIN, GERMANY, January 27, 2004 - Republicans Abroad in Germany kicked off Presidential Election Year 2004 with a New Year reception in Berlin. The law firm of Hogan and Hartson Raue L.L.P. sponsored the event held at their impressive Potsdamer Platz office on January 12. Following an introduction and welcoming remarks by the host, Republicans Abroad Berlin City Chairman Dennis Romeo, guests received an exclusive tour of Prof. Dr. Peter Raue's collection of modern art including works by Warhol and Lichtenstein.
Attendees included a broad cross section of American citizens and representatives of the German community. In addition to the drinks and hor d'ouvres, attendees were treated to a presentation of the new GOPGERMANY.COM website by the Country Chairman of Germany's Republicans Abroad Henry Nickel. Nickel also took the opportunity to announce that Berlin will host the May 2004 European Regional Conference of Republicans Abroad.
"This promises to be a pivotal election year for Republicans Abroad and the Party. It is our aim this year to build upon prior success and reach out to U.S. citizens living throughout Germany as well as to our German friends." Stated Nickel.
"Republicans have a long history of commitment to this city and this country, it is vital that we strengthen this enduring partnership through continued dialogue and understanding."
Sebastien Ratjen, a guest and candidate for the European Parliament commented "Many Germans and Europeans for that matter share common values with U.S. Republicans. I am happy to see Republicans engaged and hope they continue efforts to build understanding between the Party and the German public."
