Republicans Abroad Announces Berlin 2004!
>> Berlin to Host 2004 European Regional Conference
BERLIN, GERMANY, January 20, 2004 - Republicans Abroad will host its May 2004 European Regional Conference in Berlin. Regional Chairman Robert Pingeon made the announcement in November following discussions with Germany Country Chairman Henry Nickel and International Co-Chairman Joan Luke Hills in Washington. Locations near the historic Brandenburg Gate are currently being considered as venues for the three-day meeting to take place May 7 through 9 and keynote speakers will be determined by the end of February.
The Germany Committee of Republicans Abroad unveiled the logo for the event in January on its homepage WWW.GOPGERMANY.COM. With the theme 'An Enduring Partnership' the event will serve as a kick-off to the busy U.S. federal election season to take place immediately following, culminating in the November 2, 2004 general election. As this year will include the presidential election, Republicans Abroad is preparing for an extensive voter registration campaign and Get Out the Vote (GOTV) activities throughout the country.
"It is an honor to be selected as host for this event." stated Germany Country Chairman Henry Nickel. "This will mark 15 years since the collapse of the Berlin Wall, a very
appropriate occasion to highlight the significant contributions of Republicans to this country and city over the years." In keeping with the theme, particular reference will be made to the historic 1987 speech of President Ronald Reagan demanding the destruction of the Berlin Wall and an end to Soviet domination over eastern Europe.
The law firm Hogan and Hartson Raue L.L.P. will host a reception at its impressive Potsdamer Platz office the first day and sponsors are being sought for other portions of the conference including the luncheon and dinner to take place the evening of May 8. Final arrangements are underway to provide a VIP tour of the German Reichstag (Parliament) on May 9. A tentative agenda is expected by the end of February. Attendees should expect an event fee of approximately €150 per person. Attendees will be responsible for their own overnight accommodations, however arrangements are being made to provide reduced hotel rates as part of the event package.
Inquiries regarding sponsorships or attendance should be directed to Henry Nickel by email at hnickel@gopgermany.com or by phone +49 (0)173 1077632.
